New Zealand to raise minimum wage to $15 per hour
New Zealand will raise the minimum wage for workers who work overseas to $20 per hour, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment said.
New Zealand has been one of the most expensive countries to work in for years, with wages at a record low.
The ministry said it would raise the wage to cover all wage earners and increase overtime pay to $25 per hour.
The minimum wage will apply to workers who have a work permit and who are in a position to work.
Workers who are on a contract or contract renewal will also be exempt.
The government said it will not increase the minimum hourly wage.
It has raised the minimum weekly wage by 25 cents since April and is increasing the maximum weekly wage to about $25.
