‘I just can’t believe she voted for Trump’: Students at an Ivy League school say they are outraged by their president’s endorsement
Students at a New York City public school say that a senior class senior wrote an op-ed on her Facebook page saying that Trump is a “dangerous” man who will ruin American education overseas.
“This is the kind of thing that should never have been written,” one student wrote.
“We are supposed to be learning from the world.
The idea that this is the American way is disgusting and dangerous.”
The senior class junior wrote the op-ad on Tuesday night, which has since been shared over 1.5 million times on Facebook.
The student says she “didn’t expect any backlash” because she had previously voted for Clinton and had been “proud” of her vote.
She then added that she felt like the world is “a dangerous place” and that the president’s views are not a “real solution.”
“I just think he doesn’t understand the world, or he doesn the world,” the student said.
“If you’re an American, you have to know what the world looks like.
I’m just not going to be that person.”
“Trump has not been president for long.
We’ve seen a lot of changes over the years,” she said.
The school district released a statement Wednesday saying that the student “has been placed on administrative leave” after the op/ed was published, and that “the district is working with her to understand the implications of her comments.”
