India: Teacher who killed student accused of ‘brainwashing’ students abroad: Report
Indian teacher Darshan Joshi, who killed and dismembered a 13-year-old boy in an online game, has been arrested in the US.
According to a report by The Associated Press, Joshi had a lengthy criminal record in India and was arrested in August 2015 after being charged with kidnapping and rape in the United States.
His father and lawyers in India say the police had received a tip-off about his possible involvement in the killing.
According the report, a woman who worked for Joshi’s company, Tezmo, told authorities he was a regular customer at a nearby store and that he had asked her for help getting the boy to a relative’s home.
“He had been a regular, if not regular, customer at Tezmao’s store for about two months, and that was all we had heard about him,” his father, Rajesh Joshi told the AP.
“We never suspected anything, just that he was an active customer at the store,” he added.
Joshi was arrested after the child’s body was found near the home of his relatives.”
Tezmo is aware that Joshis arrest has led to his being held in the custody of US authorities.”
