‘I’d rather play for Australia’ – Ozil says he’d rather be with his former club than England
Ozil has revealed he is open to leaving Arsenal, as he sees his time with the Gunners as “worth it”.
The Bayern Munich midfielder revealed the move to Bayern is a long-term one that could last a number of years.
“I would like to play for my hometown club in Germany,” he told kicker.
“I would love to stay there.”
Ozil was asked about the possibility of a switch to England during his interview with kicker, saying: “I’d love to play in England.
It’s a great club and I would like [to] play there for many years.
I have great friends in England and I’m very excited to have the opportunity.”
Oozil’s Bayern team-mate Thomas Muller added: “He’s always a really good player.
I think he’s very important to Bayern.”
Arsenal are also in the market for a new midfielder following the departure of Kieran Gibbs, who left to join Manchester United.
Arsenal have had talks with former Manchester United midfielder and England international Jamie Vardy about a possible move to the Emirates Stadium.
